    Can a PS3 play ps2 and psone games? ?

I might be buying one, and the playstation website is uber convoluted.

    Thanks.

The following PS3's Play PS2 and PSone games:

    20GB-Discontinued
    60GB-Discontinued
Old 80GB-Discontinued (only played around 80% of PS2 games

The following models DO NOT play PS2 games

    40GB-Discontinued
    80GB-In production
    160GB-In production

So it's safe to say that no PS3's in production play PS2 games. ALL PS3's play PSone games

An easy way to tell if a PS3 plays PS2 games or not is:

4 USB ports=Yes, it does play PS2 games
    2 USB ports=No, it doesn't play PS2 games

Some older versions can. None of the new ones, though.

Only the 80 gigabyte PlayStation 3 is backwards compatible for PS2 and PS1 games.

The 40 gigabyte model will NOT play them.

yes, but onlythe 20GB and 60GB PS3's. The one's that are available now in stores are not backward compatible they only play ps3 games.

I suggest you buy the 60GB coz it has everything in it that other ps3's don't have. Coz 20 GB has no SD and MS slots and no Wifi, but still backward compatible and will play ps2 and ps1 games. While the new ones like 80GB and 160GB have wifi, SD and MS slots, but they don't play ps2 and ps1 games.

So just get the 60GB so you will have all the benefits out of a ps3. 60GB is a lot of space already anyway.

Note: you can only buy the 60GB online. Best would be on ebay. they sell new ones there too but too expensive coz it's hard to find now. but there are used and refurbished ones too that will cost less.

    Hope it helped. ^_^
