Nog doesn't have fantastic takedowns, and every time he closed with mir he got pummeled. He generally only gets people down when they get gassed or they follow him down.
Why didn't Nogueira take Mir down after the first round. It was obvious Mir was killing him on the ground. I know Mir has good ground game, but so does Nogueira. After the first round where he got destroyed after standing and punching I think he should have taken the fight to the ground.
Chan K., if UFC matches were scripted, Chuck liddell would've never lost a fight since he is one of the most crowd-pleasing fighters...Like I say, punches show no mercy.
But I do agree that Nog should've taken the game to the ground...I watched his previous fights with other heavyweights and he is just not a very good striker...Maybe Nog was trying, but Mir's punching skills were too good to get close to him...
