Whats wrong with this introduction?

Nevertheless, life has definitely been difficult for me, but I’m a survivalist. Plus I tend to think one gains formidable characteristics through their trials and tribulations"...

Its good, I like the wordplay, but try rephrasing some stuff.

There's nothing wrong with this monologue in itself, but it isn't a very exciting introduction that pulls people into the story because nothing's really happening. It depends on the context, what type of written piece this is supposed to end up being.

feel free to ignore me but id change it to:

"I'm a pretty laid back, mellow type of guy from New York who enjoys the finer things in life. I'm ambitious and very competitive, so I hate to lose, but I've learned it's all part of the game. Life's never been easy for me, but it's taught me how to survive, how to hold my own when my back's against the wall. Plus i believe lifes trials and tribulations to be incredibly character building...
