windows vista internet help?

ok my dad made me a super fast computer but the net is slow it has vista but its super slow and on the computer i am on now has XP and it is fine and fast so is it vista that is the problem? also could it be that i am updating windows at the moment? not a virus i haven't gone anywhere but yahoo homepage and i wont take links unless i know them and if you ask a question i will message you if you have it unlocked thanks in advance
