Im Having Problems Connecting My Ipod Touch To The Internet?

OK I JUST GOT AN IPOD TOUCH FOR CHRISTMAS AND I HAVE A WIRELESS CONNECTION. I FOLLWED THE DIRECTIONS BELOW

)ok go to settings
2) Wi-fi
3) then it will search what networks are avalible
4) click on your network
5) then you should be connected

BUT EVERYTIME I CLIKC ON SAFARI IT SAYS SAFARI CANNOT OPEN TO PAGE BECASUE IT IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERENT

I DONT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS ANY HELP!?!?!

i have one too you have to connect it to your computer if you already did mine does the same thing you have to to be in certain places to do i really sucks hope this helps
