How can i make my computer faster ?

i have a pentium 3 windows xp,,im using it for my school work and the internet but its very slow,,please give me tips to make it faster,,what can i change to make it faster?

update you're RAM! get at least 2GB and clean up registry files etc. also refragment the hard drive

How you say you use the computer for school work. If there is any work that really unnecessary or unneeded, delete them. If you cannot do that, then check your internet connection, if you have a local connection; check all the cables and their connections. If you are using a wireless internet connection; then in that case, try moving closer to the connection source. If you highlight over your internet logo in the bottom right-hand corner, details about your internet conneection should pop up. If the bars are at 0-3 you may need to move closer to the source. Bars 3, 4 & 5 are good connections.

Well you can replace the Motherboard and the CPU and that should speed it up quite a bit.

1- Defrag. Go to Control panel > Performance and Maintenance > Rearrange Items...
(this process moves around stuff on your hard drive, which will actually decrease lag)

2- Virus Scan. Self explanatory.

3- Remove useless files. Again, Control panel > Performance and Maintenance, but this time click on Free Up Space on your Hard Disc. This just deletes temporary files that do nothing.

4- Uninstall stuff. Find things you don't want, and uninstall them.
