how do you sinc a new xbox 360 controller into an xbox 360?

I got a new xbox 360 controller for christmas and i don't know how to sinc it into my xbox 360
the instructions for the xbox is at my grandma's house and all the instructions for the controller are in norwegian and i cant read norwegian
how do i sinc the controller?
 
there's a round button on the front of the xbox 360 and a similar button on the top of the controller, push them both/hold them both down for a couple seconds, it should pick it up.
