I would like to go to work and sit around but my union doesn't allow us to work on Thursday. It just says in our contract "You cannot work this Thursday" but it doesn't explain why. Not fair!
Yeah, I'm getting that day off, too. I think it's some sort of Pagan holiday.
I would bet money that there is no one who says
I do not believe so I will work.
It is part of your contract of employment that public holidays are taken.
So failing to observe the company closure could be seen as a breach of that contract. I am sure a good lawyer could win the case for your employer.
