I have two lasers, a green class IIIb and a red class 2. The thing is, although the green laser is clearly much brighter - both on paper and in use - the sticker affixed to the green laser states that it is <1mW in power, which is the same as the red one. However, the class system (which can be viewed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_safety#Old_system) indicates that by definition a class IIIb laser must be more powerful than this, and indeed the instruction manual for it rather confusingly states an output power of 5-300mW. How powerful is this laser? It is very odd that the sticker states it is a class IIIb with a power of less than 1mW even though that is a contradiction in terms.
