good car for a 16yrold?

i live in california, and need a car that has somewhat good mpg, fun to drive, and reliable [japanese] and not expensive to insure.
i was thinking a civic or is2/350. any ideas?
this would be used, not new.

civic is a good car (great gas saver), if you got the money get an is350, but then again i didn't get a brand new car nor did i get anything as expensive as an IS when i was 16

whatever car you buy have it checked out by a mechanic well worth the money
