I believe that starts when the phone is activated but it could be from the purchase date. Take it to Verizon and explain. I'm sure they won't mind doing the switch for you, anything to get you to spend extra money. The Venus isn't a bad phone by any means but the Voyager is definitely better. Good Luck.
