42 inch 1080p JVC and a Toshiba satellite laptop. How to get the best resolution ?

Now i am pretty good with computers here. i am currently using a 32 inch LCD TV as a monitor. i want to use my 42 icnh JVC as the new monitor. The JVC Does not have a VGA, DVI or anything like that. But it has S-Video. (Cant get a good resolution) What i am pretty much asking is if i get the VGA To HDMI will it work and will resolution be a lot better? And where to buy a converter
I Do have HDMI Ports on my 42 inch TV
1 more thing. TV has 3 HDMI Ports

Lab top only has VGA and S Video

no because ur still running it through vga .. (the tvs vga port) if the tv had a hdmi port then u can get like a dvi - hdmi cable and use off ur graphics card.. but other then that no u cant use an hdmi cable and get better resolution if u have no hdmi port
