It depends, is it a 3, 5 or 7 series and also depending on which motor and what year. There are alot of factors to a $9000 120k bmw. The inline 6 cylinder motors are their most reliable motors, with typically the least amount of repairs. But BMWs are VERY expensive to maintain. And if the check engine light comes on, not every mechanic can scan the problem. Parts also are alot of times dealer only and can be costly. I am a dealer and have been through it. I do not sell BMWs anymore because they are very expensive to repair and maintain. I would rather buy a $9000 100k honda accord. Alot less headaches.
When you go shopping for a BWM, you need to know at least a few things: like what is the model? 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, or 8 Series. You will need to know which engine it has: 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, 8 cylinder, or 12 cylinder. You will need to know how old the car is: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or more years old: At 12,000 miles per year, the car should be about 10 years old. You will need to know if the car has been serviced regularly, by a repair shop or by a novice. You will want to know what kind of oil has been used, and if the engine is burning any of the oil, and why? You will want to know if there have been any accidents and who has done the repairs. So now you may be able to answer most of your own questions. Bimmers are not known for breaking down a lot.
