'03 kia spectra, new alternator and good battery. Starts, runs a bit,

then loses power and dies, help!? My husband and I have a basic knowledge the internal workings of an automobile. The other day,he started and ran the car and it was fine. He tried to start it a 2nd time and the lights flickered and then it died and wouldn't start again. We had the battery tested and it was good, so we naturally thought alternator. Had it replaced. He left to go to work this morning at 3am and it lost power and died on him about 8 miles out of town. He has checked the fuses and they are good. I might add that we have been in sub zero temps lately, that's when all the trouble started. We need an idea of where to start next, as we don't have alot of money to take it to a shop and its our only mode of transportation.Please, help!
