Should music & movies be covered under the copyright law even though they...

...are so easily shared on the internet? Music is so easily shared on the internet. But it is against the law to download music without paying for it. So should it be against the law because it's stealing or should you be able to download music for free?

If people can't get paid for making movies they won't make 'em anymore. The same is true, but to a lesser degree, with music. Be fair to the artists you appreciate. Don't steal their stuff.

The writers, performers and publishers of music should get paid anytime someone owns it. The legal subscription services charge a fee, most of which which goes to the music industry.

Actors should be paid anytime their film is shown. Just because it's easy to view doesn't mean they don't deserve to be paid. (Anytime a film or TV show is shown on TV, the actors get residual payments.)

One of the reasons for the writer's strike of years back was demanding residuals for their work that was on DVDs or the internet. It's also part of the upcoming SAG strike.

Just because something is easy to illegally get for free doesn't mean it's right.
