...Christmas like, "gift giving"? I am sure some of you will find this very petty, others will know where I am coming from...

For the last twenty years we all get together for Christmas; about 20 of us. And every year we say we are going to exchange gifts. Some show up without any, some don't spend the limit that was set. We have tried various ideas in the past like: One gift box per family. (even supplied the box), draw names, limits, boy and girl gifts, we even had everyone bring a gift for another (poor) family and they couldn't even do that. I just don't understand why they do this and it bothers me.

We now have a few little ones and I would like to suggest just buying for the children... What do you think? Any ideas to help our family learn to be more giving...
