is it possible to start up cellular service with sprint without signing a contract?

if i bought/had my own phone could i just choose a plan and make monthly payments, or do they require a minimum 1 year contract?

i want full service with data, etc--not pay as you go.

I dont have sprint but the carrier I use lets me do just that. The reason for the contract is for repayment of the new Phones If you bring in your compatible phone they should give you month to month

Yes, but it would be so much more extra money without a contract!
