Beverly- I assume you habe missed the article on the Chevrolet PU that has over 1 million miles and he has done was tune-ups and belts and oil changes.
Margret- You are dead right on. The politicians have put so many regulations on American auto makers. What people don't understand is that the Big 3 can't make small cheap cars at $78 an hour compared to Toyota's rate at $35 a hour labor rate. People don't understand the political regulations that the CAFE standards have done to the American companies. This is why American SUV and PU are far better than any import. People don't understand all cars produced have to average a certain gas mileage rating. So when you have to produce a small vehicle at more than 125% of a higher labor rate to produce a vehicle to maintain the CAFE standards for the federal government. Currently at $1.40 a gallon you can't hardly sell a small car, but boy are pickup high right now. 6 months ago a prius was $3,000 over book, last week I passed on one that was $5,000 under book. Buying a pickup for book or below is immpossible right now.
Margaret- Also before Ford starting selling the Taurus only to car rentals (Fleet)in 2007, the Ford Taurus was the best selling car in Japan!!!!
Critical- In November 2008, GM sold 153,404 vehicles compared to Toyota's 130,307. So I don't know where you learned how to read or how to subtract.
Now for the year of 2008.
GM 2,734,789
Toyota 2,075,709
Lets try that subtracting thing again.
