My Mazda 3's passenger door won't shut! Something is jammed :( hellppp?

For some reason my car door wont shut and i looked on the side of the door where there is a clasp/lock sort of thing and it seems to be jammed. Anyone know if you can fix it w/o having to get it fixed professionally?

When all the lubrication turns hard and waxy and full of dirt the lug sticks. Spray it with white grease after you wipoe out all the old crud. You might have to melt it with WD 40 first. Don't use degreaser or lube will not stay on it afterward. If that doesn't do it, take open both inner panels, driver's side and passenger side. The driver's side is good and everything looks right. Make sure the passenger side looks the same and that there isn't somethig loose or missing.

Some times those mechanisms get pushed into the closed position when the door does not get shut all the way. Try using the door handle on the inside or outside (which ever is easier) like you are opening the door, then (while still holding the handle in the open position) use your fingers to open the mechanism itself. That should do the trick. Hope this helps.

try pulling up on your outside door handle and take your finger or something and open the lock..it should be 2 halves making a circle and should open easily.

I am going to have to agree with u-2. Pull on either your outside or inside handle (I recommend inside handle) and take your finger or flat head screwdriver and move the clasp upward. It should be fairly easy to do.
