Are they generally reliable?
I dont know about an '88... if you got a lil bit younger one like 92-95 they are VERY relible. thats what i have and the original motor last me 250000 miles
I love Honda's and think they're built like tanks, but twenty years is a LONG time for any car. It all depends what you mean by 'generally reliable'. If I owned one and took care of it, would I drive it? Yes. Would I buy one even for $150, no.
The brand of car is relaible, but any car over +15 yrs it really depends on who has owned it and how well they have maintained it at that point...
uuum, depends on how well they've taken care of it over the years. Maintenance performed? Does it pass any inspections required to get it lisenced? If it has under 200k for miles you are doing great! Be caution on a road trip though.
Yes they are, but it is hard to find one that has low mileage. Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry are the best cars when it comes to reliability. They can run up to 200,000m (most american cars only run up to a little over 100,000m) if they are properly taken care of.
Well, it all depends on how well the previous owner has taken care of it, but I've always been a fan of Hondas, Civics as well as Accords, the latter of which I bought my daughter a new one in 2006, and the former of which I bought new ones in 1974 and 1979, and loved 'em. But, as far as how good a used one is, well, I'd have to refer back to my initial statement about how the previous owner took care of them, and how many miles are on it. Now, if there is something specific about a 20 year old (1988) Accord being particularly good or particularly bad, I just don't have any information in that regard. Best wishes from a very satisfied Honda purchaser. God Bless you.
