They are made from forged aluminium. If you are having trouble with them breaking you can purchase unbreakable levers that are made from a solid piece of aluminium that won't break. Occasionally they will bend but if that happens and you cannot bend them back they are covered by warranty anyway. ASV make unbreakable ones and they come in loads of different colours
