how long to charge new battery in nokia 6131.?

I have bought a 6131 (refurbished),i have put in battery and charged then upon use it switches itself off after about 3 to 6 minutes.I have returned to seller.I have received phone back from seller with fresh battery,I charged for 8 hours as instructed,then after 3 to 6 minutes it switches off,at this point i am p""""d off.inform seller, they send new battery.Now before I charge battery i have a question,how long should the battery be charged for on the first charge,as i know that some battery's will fry if over charged.help please,bought phone as birthday present for wife in september and we still haven't cured the problem.

Hi ive just bought a new sony ericsson & although it had life in the battery & was ready to use what i did was put it on charge & left it over night & its been ok ! now to your problem even though the phone says its refurbished after you got the 2nd battery & you had the same fault i personally would have asked for my money back because the phone obviously has some form of charging fault i.e not holding its own charge ! i had a sony ericsson that wouldnt charge properly so i took it to a sony repair centre in the town where i live they did tests on the phone & when i got it back it was perfect what they had done was a software upgrade on it but it was done free of charge as it was still under warrantee ! but as a refurbished phone it should have been thoroughly checked out before it was sold to you & obviously it wasnt! personally i would get your money back & buy a brand new phone for your wife ... hope this info helps
