I know that the purpose of the Gettysburg Address was to honor the fallen of the Civil War and let the public know that the fighting did not have to last. However... what was the theme of it? Is it kinda the same thing? What about his inaugrual speech? Help please.

In each he is talking about how The Unite States is one nation and will be so after the war. He did not think that the south should be unduly punished after the war and wanted peace and reconciliation. He wanted to show how the people of the nation are united and would be expected to be so again afte the war. He was talking about peaceful reunification.
