I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring Sedan with the V6. I took the box out that holds the air filter off and it is more or less a cold air intake, it sounds awesome, the filter is held secure. The best part though, is it actually has an improvement in low end power. I was just wondering if there was anything that anybody could think of that I could be harming or damaging.
thanks in advance

I don't think your going to harm anything and if you've already done and it works good for "YOU" then more power to you. Keep us informed on the performance. You may have come across something that is cheap and effective and Lord knows we all love cheap and effective. Keep on keeping on!!

Ludwig van has no clue what he's talking about. Oil sludge doesn't even touch the air intake! If you made a cold air intake for your car, there's no problem; there's no part you could hurt by doing that. I hope you don't fall for the things Ludwig van said to sound smart. I mean, think about it. How could oil sludge affect the engine because of something you changed that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the oiling system. Think about that before you choose the best answer.

By the way; if you do have a problem with oil sludge, buy some Royal Purple® motor oil. I would suggest, however, using it before you have a problem. They've already tested it many times before, and it's great at preventing sludge. Before you compromise your cold air intake for some stupid problem caused by cheap oil, I think you should consider using this oil. It costs a little more than average motor oil, but you'll spend a lot less buying this than repairing your engine. Good luck.

That engine is bound to go bad due to known sludge problems. I would suggest leaving everything stock so when it does bit the dust, you can get it fixed under warranty. Good luck, if you want more information about your engine and its sludge problems check out this:
