is palringo app free for the iphone 3g, does it count as text messages?

Hey
Although I don't have an iPhone, only an iPod Touch, I think that messaging through pal isn't really text messaging as with mobile phones. As long as ypu don't run over your internet usage limit, you shouldn't be charged extra.
