Is this rumor true: "if all the poor Americans quit the military- the rich kids

I think a lot of people join up simply because they want to serve. Not for financial reasons. I'm not saying a lot of poor people don't join, I'm just saying they aren't the only ones. I think its absurd to say our military is made up of a bunch of poor people who needed the sign-up bonus.

that is an untrue rumor. the rumor i usually hear is that if all stupid kids quit, the smart ones would gladly replace them..today's military is comprised of kids who are poor and want the pay and benefits that the military provides. some are gun-ho kids who just enjoy the physical challenge, some are highly educated kids who get the opportunity to use their specialized knowledge in an exciting environment.

No. If the poor Americans quit the military, we would go back to having a "selective service" and the gov't. would "select" the poor to serve anyway.

No the real question is since the Democrats are in total control and the military is for the most part Republican in makeup, then when will we see the liberals children get in there enlist and fight for the liberal leadership concepts of this country. If there is a new war of some kind in the next 4 years will it now be a "good war"? Good enough for their children to fight? LOL.

I believe they would never support any policy with the blood and treasure of their children for any reason. Doesn't matter what the issue it would always be "wrong" in their minds.
