cheats, greedy, racists, ? sexists, intolerant, etc, is this because of the guilt they feel of being all these things themselves?

the logic behind this question, when someone is guity of cheating, they're usually very suspicious and accusing of the person they're with of cheating on them just for one example. Same for thieves, liars etc. trust issues brought on by their own guilt, thus thinking everyone else is like them, even though they wont admit to it personally till caught?
