I read a short story several years ago, and wish to use it in a class. Unfortunately, neither I nor my professor can remember the name or author of the story.
The basic plot is this: 2 men are walking down the street. They arent really talking, but the story follows the thought processes of one man. Then, his friend says something to him that corresponds exactly with his thoughts. The friend explains to the aghast man that he knew him so well that he was able to deduce his thought processes and know what he was thinking about.

This was a brilliant story and I would love to find it again. I tought that it was by O. Henry, Poe, or Conan Doyle, but that isn't restrictive. Has anyone read this story? Help!
