I went mudbogging with the guys in June and my diff filled up with water. I didn't know so I drove with it like that for 2 weeks. My husband took out the Ring and Pinion and it is gone and so is he. Now in order to get a new axle I need to know how to find out the gear ratio. I don't have anything other than the numbers on the "pumpkin" and that is it. How would I find out the gear ratio? I know it can be 3 different answers.

Of course counting revolutions is out of the question. It should say it in the axle tag (maybe those pumpkin numbers) or sometimes is shown on the vin tag. If that is the case you can go to a parts site an input that number most likely will show. Only thing that comes to my mind that you could do without the ring and pinion. Hope this helps. I have just checked my manual and most axles should have a stamp on the differential housing (pumpkin), hopefully you have not installed and aftermarket on it.
TC and good luck!!!
