I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. I heard that it can make your engine sound a little louder. It's not bad to remove the top off of the air filter box right?
The top of the air filter box is there for a reason, to stop crap being sucked through your engine. You wouldn't even hear the difference. If you want to make your engine sound louder then get an exhaust system.
Yes it will sound louder, you will think it is much faster because it is getting more air, but the after effect of trash and debris that can get into your carb with it being off can be costly, I would leave it on.
