Can you freeze sour cream for future use? If so, how is the best way to thaw it

out? ? I use sour cream for a hash brown casserole and I keep as many items for the recipe on hand. Just wondering if it is possible to freeze sour cream and thaw it our when needed. Thanks for your assistance.

Sour cream does not freeze well. It will break down and separate when thawed out. It does store in the refrigerate for quite a long time though.

It will not have the same smooth consistency you had before freezing it.

Sour Cream keeps longer in the refrigerator than you think. I never have to worry about mine going bad. If it isn't sour cream it is cream cheese or butter! Kinda like Paula Deen!

No, it does not freeze well, but it will keep indefinitely in the refrigerator if you store the container of sour cream upside down. Just make sure you mix it well before using. This really does work.
