2002 Jeep Wrangler Mechanical Problem. Does this sound like a bad computer?
Got an 02 Wrangler X, 4.0L, 6 Cyl, with 33K miles on it.
It started acting up the other day. Kinda the same symptoms as if fuel pump or filter were out. Chugging, not accelerating, weird smell, and engine light is on.
I took it to a mechanic for analysis. He put a computer on it which said 1 cylinder was misfiring and 1 injector wasn't working. He checked the injectors and cylinders and they appeared to be fine. He checked fuel pressure and it was good. But, when he checked the computer, he said there was nothing being output.
Said it's like a $850 repair to replace the comp. I know I can do it for less myself, just need to know if I'm fixing the right thing.

UPDATE:
I checked the codes.
206 Injector #6 control circuit problem (open or shorted)
300 Misfire detected in multiple cylinders
301 Misfire detected in cylinder #1

306 Misfire detected in cylinder #6

I disconnected the battery. I detached the ground for the ecu from the engine block, cleaned it, and reconnected it. I unplugged the ecu and checked the connectors. I plugged everything back in and the check engine light was off, but the Jeep seemed to have trouble starting up.

Any thoughts?
