can iphone be used with rogers wireless in Canada without unlockin?

my friend in US wants to send me a new iphone bought in APPLE STORE as gift, but im not sure if it will work with my current SIM card (from rogers). Or I have to wait to unlock it in order to use it in Canada with Rogers Wireless. Currently the iphone has 1.1.3 firmware (latest ver.)

ya,it's possible.
After unlocking you will be able to put your own sim card.Nowadays there are lot of ways available to unlock iphone.I would suggest Remote unlocking method.It's the best way to unlock iphone without jailbreaking.If you are interested in this method visit onlinegsmunlock.com Recently i unlocked my mobile phone using this method.I never had any problem.
