    do Muslims send greeting cards?

Or is it just a western or Christian tradition?
2)If they do, at what times of the year (ie Birthdays / Eid etc)
3)compared to Christian tradition how common is the practice?
4)Is there any reason for a muslim to be offended by receiving a Christmas card?

I think that I can recall seeing Eid cards for sale in the shops, but even in a 20% muslim town like Blackburn, there didn't seem to be very many.

I don't think greeting cards are even a Christian thing. Really its just another commercial device to get your money. As a Muslim I would just call, write a letter, or e-mail somebody if I wanted to say Eid Mubarak!. That and when you make it yourself its much more personal. So no, most don't use greeting cards. We all just get together at the mosque and have a great time.

Sure we send post cards. What s religion got to do with post cards? After cell phones and emails we are not using them as much as before. But in every occasion you use them we do that too. Christmas card would be a little weird. Imagine you have received an eid card. If you choose a happy new year card that will do it.

Many muslims send greeting cards though it is not one of their culture.

    2. Those who send do it at time of Eid, mostly.
    3. Not very common.
    4. I don't think they normally get offended.

Yeah, some Muslims do send greeting cards. Mostly its birthday cards, I never really sent a eid card. Its not as common as Christian tradition. They shouldn't be any reason for a Muslim to get offended by getting a christmas card, Islam teaches tolerance to all religions. =)

It's never been part of Muslim Religion to send wish cards at any occasion.

But sending out wish cards is just not against lslam since a Muslim keep wishing good to any body he sees by saying 'Peace & God's mercy on you' (AsSalam Aliqum wa Rahmat ullah).

Well, as for the Christmas Card, it would be foolish of him/her to get offended. Christmas is about the birthday celebration of Jesus Christ, a Prophet & Messiah in whom we equally believe as prophet.
However, it depends, what's the message in that card !!!

Jusus Christ to Muslims is a Prophet, a Messiah from mankind... so just take your precautions before sending out one.

My Muslim colleague does send card. I am not sure he would say "Merry Christmas" but a lot of people in US now say "Happy Holidays" (Christians and not alike), which is sad....

I also saw him sending cards for the Dhivali festival to some colleagues in India, so I assume he is not offended by these things.
