Where is the best place to meet a single, fun-loving male?

I am a newly single female, just out of a 9 year relationship. I want to date a few guys and see what it's like since I'm in my late 20s and forgot how to date already. It used to be that I would meet guys in school, but I've graduated already and I've lost my only pick up spot-- the classroom.

I've tried the book store, coffee shops, but the people there just look down and mind their own business. I've thought about online dating, but I'm not sure it's right for me. Any success stories? Where do guys think they can pick up girls?
