How one would do in another's sport isn't the measure of competitiveness. I'd look at the field of fighters. Theres less and less new talent in boxing every year, where as MMA has seen an explosion of new talent.
It's probably true that a boxer would beat a MMA fighter under boxing rules. The boxer's sole focus is punching. In the reverse situation, the only hope a boxer would have is the first seconds in the very beginning while the MMA wasn't all over him like white on rice (which is what any mma fighter would do vs a pro boxer)
Boxer's aren't all that great, it's just western arrogance
