.divx files in Windows Media Player Library?

I'm trying to add a .divx file (created using AVIAddXSub) into the Windows Media Player Library so that I can play it on my PS3 via stream. I even tried renaming the file to a .avi file, but the library won't accept them. They play perfectly using WMP, but I just want to add them to the library so that the PS3 can detect them. Please advise.
