So Postcomm wants to break up the Ryal Mail Group to help it address the problems facing the company. This will be the same postcomm that advocated postal competition in the UK Mail industry. The same Postcomm who felt that Royal Mail had to maintain a six day univerersal service whilst its rivals were granted Monday to Friday licences. the same company who sees nothing wrong in TNT,DHL, whoever getting the bulk of the profit for carrying bulk mailings 20 miles from warehouse to Ryal Mail Mail Centre and then leaves Royal Mail to make a loss carrying those letters around the rest of the country. The same Postcomm who opposes Royal Mail trying to undercut its rivals, despite the rivals being allowed to undercut Royal Mail. It is postal competition that is bringing the UK`s postal service to its current unreliable state. Postal Competition is another Railtrack in the making, it needs to be terminated not encouraged.

A totally mad idea! But then again it will have had government approval - so there we are - another industry down the drain - another fine mess this government will leave behind.

oh what a brilliant idea, its nearly as good as the introduction of the poll tax. Considering this govt has closed so many rural post offices, lengthened queues by a factor of 10 in the main ones I think this idea needs to be drop kicked into orbit.
