because the way they run it.? President of the Arabian horse league for FEMA, no bid contracts for the war to Halliburton, under funding no child left behind, a cabinet staffed with people from non-accredited religious colleges.
They don't believe in government so they do everything they can while in power to make sure that government runs as inefficiently as possible.
As far as the democrats being in charge right now. They don't have a large enough majority in the Senate to overcome a filibuster and they don't have enough to override a veto..Also no formal declaration of war was ever passed by congress which is required by the constitution.

Hey dude, the dems are in control, so what is the problem here? Dems also have a presidential nominee who is running who voted for the war. So I think they all share the blame for the mess everything is in.

Well skippy, the Congress has been under Democratic control for a year now, and has the lowest approval rating EVER (just 11%). Why, that's even lower than Pres. Bush's approval numbers! What does that tell you?

Not true. Republicans generally believe that the best government is a "government that governs the least". They, in theory, don't believe that the government should be in control of everything and the people should have true power over what goes on in the market, etc.
your question is very biased.
