Switching to Verizon from Cingular Family Plan?!?

So I am the name of my family plan on Cingular. I have my mom and my dad on my plan, and my mom is an authorized name on the account. I want to switch to Verizon (I moved into an area where it has better service). I know for just a normal account, Verizon cancels it themselves and takes care of it. However, with me having the main line of the family plan I was not sure what to do? I do not have a contract any more, so I do not need to worry about finishing out my contract. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Thanks for the help so far! I should add that only I am switching to Verizon. My parents are staying with Cingular. Please don't reply with which one is better or worse, Verizon is better in my town whereas Cingular is better back home.

Verizon is an excellent company who is really good at quality assurance and costumer relations. I highly recommended a move to Verizon. If you're a PDA user I'd wait till the new Blackberry Storm comes out however so you can steal it in the price with a contract. As for the family line, they have plenty of packages and you can add different administrators to the account. I'm not a verizon rep, just a very satisfied costumer, good luck.

What you might not realize, and they definitely don't explain to you when you sign up, is that although you might might be done with your contract, you have to pay through the end of the month that you cancel. This is true with any cell phone company.

Find out what your contract end date is with Cingular, and cancel your plan about 5-7 days before that to allow for enough time for problems to be worked out without going into another month.

Were you not ported over to VZW with the rest of your family plan? If not, you should be!

You should also know that VZW will not and cannot cancel your agreement with AT&T/Cingular! You have to do this yourself. All they did was take your phone numbers over to VZW.

Edit your post if you want any more answers. I work for VZW
