How do you use the pinlock on sony ericsson cybershot phones?

I have entered my pincode locks and put them on but it only asks me for them when i turn the mobile phone on...is there any way i can leave the phone turned on and get it to ask me for the pincode to use it? Any help will be great...thanks

there is a option in settings to have a keypad pin code i think

There is a phone lock function which you can use to prevent unauthorised use of your phone. The pinlock is only to prevent another SIM card being used in your phone.
