Boat freaks please help?

I am writing a story about characters which need to hijack a boat and sail to indonesia.
Can anyone give me any idea of how long this might take and which kind of boat would be best for it?
How much fuel they'd need for example?
The weather they'd expect during a November/ December trip?
As well as any extra general information you think i'd need to know about boats
