I suspect you should do an internet search for BluRay Profile 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2. These 'profiles' are Sonys attempt to get early purchasers of BluRay players to buy new players by offering new 'features' that include: - Internet connectivity so you can access internet 'extras' based on a movie. - Picture in picture feature. This allows you to watch the commentary (or behind-the-scenes extras) in a small window while watching the movie. I suspect Samsung is just saying their new players are adding some profile 1.2 features, but avoiding using numbers because: - they feel their customers are frightened by numbers. - it would commit them to being totally compatible with un-tested features
