Unlock HTC G1 Android phone questions?

Hi ,
I just got a g1 phone , but it's locked., I want to unlock it , so i can use it with my AT&T. I dont want to pay 23 bucks online just to get the unlock code. Is it possible to let my T-mobile friend, who has been using tmobile for 1 year to call T-mobile and request an unlock code for my G1 phone ? Thanks !

You can try...through your friend..but if your request gets rejected you can get the unlock code from Simpleunlocking.com and remove the network lock easily in your HTC G1.Once you get the unlock code you can follow the free unlock instructions from Mobileunlockguide.com
