How do you delete the text message recent list on an LG Rumor?

LG rumor text - I pocket texted by mistake and when looked at the phone it had all the text messages I had sent! I hit a button by mistake and got completely out of it. I want to learn how I can go back to that option

I just got a LG rumor touch. I need help with some settings. every time when i receive a test message, it shows not only the sender but also the text on the screen. How do I hide the text content, i only need to know that a message just arrived? I guess we all need some privacy sometimes. Thanks for your help
