Why did my mom sit in her car with the hood up while my dad checked the oil

and water in her car? She was taking my brother and I to school and so why did she sit in her car with the hood up while he checked the oil and water and I need the 20 answers in all please.

Because women don't know a door handle from a radiator. They bash men ALL THE TIME, but when things need fixing they come crawling to us.
 
Because your father wanted to make sure his family was safe. Your mother likely didn't help because it would result in too many cooks in one kitchen.
 
Why wouldn't she? Your dad, I would think, usually checks her oil and water, so she was waiting for him to complete it before she drove off. I think he probably said "I'll check your oil and water before you go".
