Does smoking marijuana make you cough like smoking a cigarette?

For me....
When i smoke pot i do cough, I do not smoke cigs. not saying i havent tried cigz b4...

However when i have smoked cigarettes I choked my lungs out bad and my throat hurts after words. When smoking pot i think the caugh is different, meaning it doesnt burn as much and doesnt last as long.
