Wait, are you hunting deer or birds? Big difference there. Please specify. Though if you are hunting deer, you may want to look into a .243 win, it wont have too much kick for you to handle, if you are a bigger guy like I was when I was 14, try out a .270, it won't wreck your shoulder at the range and is very very accurate.
