in my dodge neon i bought the snap wire harness and spliced all the stereos wires into it. the only wire that wasn't in the snap harness was the ground wire. on the back of the old stereo, there is this wire with a ring terminal bolted to the back of the stereo. Is that the ground wire for the car? can i bolt that to the new stereo to ground it or should i connect the ground wire from the stereo to the ring terminal on it? What should i do to ground it?

Yes, that's the ground wire for the factory radio. You can connect your new head unit's ground wire to this wire. It will work fine.

No after-market head unit is designed to ground through the antenna connection. The antenna shield can function as a (very poor) ground wire if the actual ground wire isn't connected, but no deck is designed to work this way.

...couple of options. Many aftermarket radios (can) ground thought the antenna connection. It sounds like the wire with the eyelet that bolted to the OEM radio is the ground but it wouldn't hurt to check it w/ a multimeter. If it proves as a ground (try with headlights on and off), then you have yourself a ground. ...or run a new wire strait to some clean (unpainted) chassis metal.

that is your ground. you should attach the black wire on your new stereo to it. I do not think you'll be able to screw it onto the new radio. You could also cut off the ring terminal and attach the 2 wires together with a soldering gun.
