As per this investigative AP story the citizens of Alaska were billed for travel costs for Palin's kids to see daddy's snowmobile races.
"The charges included costs for hotel and commercial flights for three daughters to join Palin to watch their father in a snowmobile race, and a trip to New York, where the governor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for five days and four nights in a luxury hotel. Should taxpayers pay for these type of family expenses? Is Palin a reformer or pork producer?

You need to actually read the link. If the state paid then she should have reported the money as reimbursed expenses. Although she cooked the books after being picked by McCain, this was one were she slipped up.
